What they actually do

OrangeBlue is a general contractor rather than a single trade shop, and the range shows in the work. On the residential side that means decking, pools and spas, outdoor kitchens, landscaping, driveways, sports courts and room additions. On the commercial side it means asphalt, mechanical work, plumbing, electrical and painting.

They also hold maintenance contracts with homeowners associations, which is a different kind of work from a one off job. An association wants the same contractor to answer next year, and that only happens when somebody keeps the paperwork straight as well as the site.

Why a roofing directory carries a general contractor

Most roofs are replaced by roofers. Some are replaced as one line on a much bigger job, when a room is going on the back of the house or a commercial building is being turned over between tenants. That is general contractor work, and hiring a roofer for it leaves somebody to coordinate the rest.

Knowing which of the two you need is most of the decision. A leak over a bedroom is a roofing job. A leak over a bedroom that is being extended next spring is not.

What the record shows

OrangeBlue carries a five star rating across eleven reviews, and a street address in Laguna Hills rather than a mailbox. California licenses contractors through the Contractors State License Board, and the board publishes a lookup that takes about ten minutes to use.

Their trading name is worth noting. The company presents as OrangeBlue Construction on its own site while the business record reads OrangeBlue General Contractors. Both are them.
