How this directory works

What gets checked

A company only publishes when it has a working phone number and an address or service area inside the market it is listed in. Two companies with similar names are never merged, records belonging to another market are dropped, and two records sharing one phone number are treated as one company.

What a listing holds

The name, the phone number, the street address where there is one, the trade, the posted hours, and a rating with its review count where the company has them. Nothing is invented. A company with no rating shows no rating rather than a number somebody guessed at.

How We Check a License

In California we read the Contractors State License Board master file and try to match every company on this site to it by business name, phone number and street address. A match shows the number, the classification and the status. A company the board has suspended is marked not currently recommended, sits at the bottom of every list it appears in, and the reason is printed on its page.

Where we find nothing we say no license on record, and that is a statement about our search rather than about the roofer. A company licensed under a parent name, an owner name or a spelling we did not try comes back empty while holding a perfectly good number. Ask on the call and look it up yourself.

Outside California we do not make either claim, because most states publish no file we can read in bulk and several license nothing at all. A blank where a number should be would accuse an honest roofer of something that does not exist in their state.

What we do not claim

We do not rank companies by who pays us, because nobody pays us. Reading the state file is not a recommendation and it is not an inspection, so check the number yourself before you sign. We do not write reviews, and any review line quoted on a profile is shown exactly as it was written.

Ratings move

Every profile shows the date its details were last checked. A rating on this site is a snapshot, not a live feed. Call the company to confirm hours, service area and whether they still do the work you need.

Corrections

If a listing is wrong, out of date, or belongs to a company that closed, use the claim page and it gets fixed. Corrections are free and always will be.
