A storm repair contract is void if the roofer offers to cover your deductible or to deal with your insurer for you.

A residential contractor may not advertise or promise to rebate any insurance deductible or any part of one as an inducement. That includes an allowance, a discount against the fee, or paying anybody connected to the property, except items of nominal value.
A residential contractor may not represent or negotiate on your behalf with your insurance company on a roof or exterior claim, and may not offer or advertise to.
On a catastrophe repair contract the roofer has to hand you a fully completed duplicate notice in at least ten point bold type, headed NOTICE OF CONTRACT OBLIGATIONS AND RIGHTS, signed by you before or at the time you contract.
A contract made in violation of any of those three is void and you owe nothing under it. Breaking the deductible rule or the negotiating rule is an unlawful practice under Iowa Code 714.16.
